EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT – JOHN SMUGALA: MANUFACTURING MANAGER, KEMPER PLANT
Originally from St. Louis, John Smugala joined Luxco’s Kemper plant in 2008 as a Bottling Supervisor. After a few years, he became the Processing Manager, then the Bottling Manager, and he currently works as the plant’s Manufacturing Manager. In this role, John oversees all operations at the plant, including bottling, processing, and managing and maintaining the warehouse. What makes the job interesting and challenging, he said, is that each day is unique and there is never a dull moment.
John says the best part of his role at Luxco is constantly learning new things, as well as his colleagues.
“I love the small company feel. Even though we are continuously growing, it still feels like a family,” he said. “And with growth also comes opportunities, which I welcome.”
While not at work ensuring the plant runs smoothly, John enjoys attending St. Louis Blues and Cardinals games, golfing, and spending quality time with his family at their farm. John is married and has two adult children – a son, Brett, and a daughter, Jessica.
