Wearing hard hats and holding shovels, Donn, Michele, and I were able to represent our Luxco team and join this distinguished group in breaking ground on the property, marking the official launch of this exciting new venture for Luxco. We were pleased to be able to share this special moment with our colleagues in the bourbon industry as well.

Governor Bevin, in his remarks at the event, welcomed the Luxco family into the proud tradition of Kentucky bourbon and commented on our ideal and picturesque location for the new distillery.

The property we chose in Bardstown is truly special, both visually and in its location off state highway Kentucky-245, in the heart of Bardstown, the “Bourbon Capital of the World”. Along with several barns, the 70-acre property is home to an 18th century stone
house – which will remain and is registered as a National Historic Place – and a long, tree-lined driveway that will provide a scenic entrance to our future distillery.

The 18,000 square foot distillery will include six barrel warehouses, a visitor center, a tasting room, and event space, providing visitors a new stop along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. What’s more, the distillery will give us a place to center our brands’ heritage – an important element in attracting bourbon consumers who seek authentic products and experiences. In addition, the distillery will employ approximately 35 people and will truly instill the Luxco history and tradition in the spirits industry.

Most importantly, with the rapid growth of many of our bourbon brands, the new distillery will give us the freedom to create and distill our own bourbon. By controlling our own production, we will have the ability to experiment with new and innovative mash bills, barrel types, and aging techniques to continue producing high-quality products and meet our increasing whiskey demand.

Construction will begin in the coming weeks, and we are expecting the distillery to be completed by late 2017. Our marketing team will be publishing a website so everyone can see our beautiful distillery being built.
