In 2014 Master Distiller John Rempe had an idea to make a fantastic Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey blend using three unique source bourbons, and in 2015 Blood Oath® Pact No. 1 was born. He named the series Blood Oath because he vows to be the only one who knows where these whiskeys have come from.

“Creating an extraordinary and unique blend of Kentucky straight bourbon whiskeys is at the heart of the Blood Oath series. Each Pact represents an opportunity to create a secret I can’t wait to share with bourbon lovers,” says Rempe.

Fast forward to 2021 – Blood Oath Pact No. 7 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Sauternes casks is the latest addition to this elite collection. In a blend known only to Rempe, Blood Oath Pact No. 7 features a combination of 14-year ryed bourbon, 8-year ryed bourbon and 8-year ryed bourbon finished in Sauternes casks.

Why Sauternes casks? Rempe explains-

“Sauternes is a sweet white wine from the small town of Sauternes in the Bordeaux region of France. Finishing in a Sauternes cask brings additional tasting notes to the bourbon. In this case, expect a nose of caramel, oak and spice and flavor notes of apricots, honey and peaches. The balance of sweetness and spice is what sets this bourbon apart.”

The Blood Oath Pact No. 7 label is in keeping with its predecessors, with the color selection meant to evoke rich French Blue hues. A limited allocation of 17,000 3-in cases of Blood Oath Pact No. 7 hit retail shelves in early April at a suggested retail price of $99.99 per bottle.
